2022 Sewing Plans
Happy New Year! Since it has been cold and snowy here in New York, I have been enjoying staying inside and taking my time with big sewing projects. One thing I haven’t been good at is photographing my recently completed projects. Sewing out of season clothing means that oftentimes I celebrate finishing a project by hanging it up in my closet.
Right now I am working on my early 2022 sewing plan which is called: Whittling down the stash.
I’m planning on moving sometime in the next few months. It won’t be far; just somewhere else in this city and hopefully to somewhere with a view, a dishwasher, and more space. In the spirit of trying to reduce the amount of packing I need to do, I decided to reorganize my project queue by project bulk.
To the top of the list: knit fabrics, coating weight fabrics, and projects that require underlining (two fabrics for one project) A lot of these projects are also time consuming, bigger projects which I have the time and focus for making now. My goal is to keep sewing projects from my fabric stash until I get bored or until everything fits into one box. Ideally this would create more room for new fabrics that I would buy on a summer vacation this year.
I’m starting off by making the Closet Core Clare Coat. I’ve had some dark navy wool melton fabric from Fabscrap at the bottom of my stash for a while. I’m looking forward to sewing another warm coat- I’ll be wearing it this chilly winter!
